Milka Shake is a powder formula for making milkshakes, containing Colostrum, one of nature’s immune nutrient foods, fortified with zinc, L-glutamine, key vitamins and beneficial herbs.

Colostrum has been called mother’s gold, which is a thick, yellow substance that is produced toward the end of a female’s pregnancy and is emitted by her mammary gland during the first 48 hours after giving birth. Nature provides the newborns with the special substances designed to "prime" the body to face a lifetime of invasion by various microorganisms and environmental toxins bent on destruction. It delivers the immune factors, which facilitate the development of a strong immune system, and growth factors, which are essential in the creation and maintenance of bone, muscle, nerves, and cartilage, as well as other essential functions.

Besides immune and growth factors, Colostrum also supplies the antibodies (immunoglobulins) that protect the newborns from invading organisms by minimising the severity of an illness and provides the ammunition needed to ward off and fight invading organisms. Antibodies also stimulate the newborns’ own immune system to create immunity to invasion by disease-causing organisms. Dr. Brandtzaeg stated in New York Academic Science that immunoglobulins found in colostrum are able to neutralize the most harmful bacteria, viruses and yeast.

A study was done by Dichtelmuller W and Lissner R. in 1990 on "Antibodies from colostrum in oral immunotherapy". They prepared an immunoglobulin preparation for oral use from pooled bovine colostrum from more than 100 animals. The preparation has high antibacterial antibody titres and a high capacity for the neutralization of bacterial toxins. It is well tolerated and highly effective in the treatment of severe diarrhoea, e.g. in AIDS patients. This study was confirmed by another study which was investigated by Huppertz H. et. al. in 1999 in children with E. coli associated diarrhea.

Colostrum also contains a high level of protein and little fat, which is the optimal ratio of protein and fat for the newborns. It is a safe, natural, non-allergenic food supplement that creates new levels of vitality and well being. The colostrum used in Milka Shake is from New Zealand pasture fed cows which are free of hormones, pesticides and antibiotics. It is considered to be the premier source by many experts.

Milka Shake also contains a number of extra nutrients that are beneficial to the body. These include L-glutamine, elderberry, Echinacea, calcium ascorbate (vitamin C), rosehip, d-alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), calcium pantothenate (vitamin B5), zinc and retinol palmitate (vitamin A).

L-Glutamine functions as building block of all proteins and is involved in metabolism in the digestive tract. When L-glutamine passes through the blood-brain barrier, it converts into glutamic acid, which is critical for cerebral function. It also participates in regulating the proper acid and alkaline balance and the synthesis of RNA and DNA.

Elderberry extract is rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids, which helps in strengthening the immune system and protects the body cells from flu viruses. A standardised extract of elderberries has been shown to inhibit the replication of a number of strains of the influenza virus (type A, type B and animal strains) in vitro. A research study was done to compare a standardised extract to a placebo on 40 flu patients and the health changes were recorded over six days. The extract has been shown to speed the recovery from influenza infection with the infections lasting 2-3 days for 90% of the patients taking elderberry extract, compared to 6 days for the patients taking placebo.

Echinacea, also called purple coneflower, is highly valued by the American Indians. It has long been used for infections such as colds and flu. It stimulates the immune system, helps in tissue healing and has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-bacterial and anti-cancer effects.

Calcium Ascorbate is the buffered vitamin C, which means it is the non-acidic form of vitamin C and is gentle in the stomach. Vitamin C is necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair. It promotes healthy capillaries, gums and teeth; aids iron absorption; increases calcium absorption; helps heal wounds, burns and broken bones; reduces free-radical production; and strengthens blood vessels. It also aids the utilization of carbohydrates, synthesis of fats and proteins, and preservation of the integrity of blood-vessel walls.

Rose hips are the fruit of a rose after the petals have fallen. It has been used as a source of vitamin C since World War II in Britain to prevent scurvy during a shortage of citrus fruit. Actually, rose hips have been found to have up to 60 times the vitamin C of citrus fruit as well as containing the bioflavonoids that aid in the absorption of vitamin C. It is also used to fight infection & curb stress.

D-alpha-tocopherol is the most absorbable form of vitamin E. It acts as an anti-blood clotting agent; promotes normal growth and development; promotes normal red-blood-cell formation; promotes vitamin C recycling; improves immunity; and functions as an antioxidant for the protection from cancer, heart disease, tissue and free radicals in the body.

Pyridoxine, vitamin B6, is involved in the functioning of enzymes involved in the release of energy from food. It acts as a coenzyme for metabolic functions affecting protein, carbohydrates and fat utilization. It is also necessary for red blood cell formation. Vitamin B6 is vital to healthy development and function of the brain and nervous system since it plays an important role in regulating mental processes and mood. It also plays a vital role in modulating the effects of hormones and maintaining a healthy immune system by affecting functions such as multiplication and antibody production. It is also involved in the conversion of tryptophan to niacin, absorption of vitamin B12 and the production of hydrochloric acid.

Calcium pantothenate, vitamin B5, is essential for the release of energy from food. It is necessary for the production of some neurotransmitters and is essential for normal system function. It is required for antibody synthesis and is involved in wound-healing. Normal adrenal gland function requires vitamin B5 as it is vital for the production of adrenal hormones, which play an important part in the body’s reaction to stress. It is also involved in the production of healthy red blood cells.

Zinc (monomethionine) is a trace mineral and is a part of the molecular structure of 80 or more known enzymes which work with red blood cells to move carbon dioxide from tissues to the lungs. It functions in antioxidant reactions; maintains one’s normal taste and sense of smell; aids wound healing; promotes normal fetal growth; helps in the synthesize of DNA and RNA; promotes cell division, repair and growth; and maintains the normal level of vitamin A in the blood. Zinc is a pivotal component of the antioxidant defense network that protects membranes from oxidation.

Retinol palmitate, pre-formed vitamin A, is commonly known for healthy eyes and vision. It plays a central role in tissue development and maintenance and is necessary for growth and repair of many body cells including bones, teeth, collagen and cartilage. Vitamin A stimulates and enhances many immune functions including antibody response and the activity of various white blood cells.

Suggested Use

Take 1-3 teaspoons of Milka Shake up to 3 times daily. Blend into milk, yoghurt, smoothie, ice-cream, or other food. Children 1 to 3 teaspoons daily.
