Dande café

Dande Café is a coffee alternative, prepared with richly roasted dandelion root, malt, carob and enhanced with L-glutamine and herbal nutrients. All these ingredients have their own health benefits to the human bodies.

Dandelion is a well-known garden weed and is much valued as an herbal remedy. It is a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including potassium. Its root has been used to improve digestion as it stimulates the flow of digestive juices, including bile from the liver and gallbladder. The root is also used to improve liver function, skin conditions and arthritis. The roasted dandelion root powder is said to be indistinguishable from the real coffee and an improvement to the inferior coffee.

Carob has long been eaten as food and is sometimes called St. John’s bread since John, the Baptist is said to have eaten it. The main constituents of carob are sugars and tannins. Carob tannins have an astringent effect in the gastrointestinal tract, which makes them useful for relieving diarrhoea. They may also bind to toxins and inhibit growth of bacteria. The sugars make carob gummy and able to act as a thickener to absorb water, which is another action that may help decrease diarrhoea.

Panax Ginseng has a long history of use as tonics in Chinese medicine. It helps to enhance the body’s ability to cope with stress, improve energy metabolism, lower blood sugar, boost immunity, enhance liver function and regulate cell growth. The anti-fatigue and anti-stress properties of ginseng are useful to increase physical and mental performance in people who are debilitated and suffering from stress. It is also used to help with diabetes, to lower cholesterol, to enhance reproductive system function, to ease menopausal symptoms, to improve immunity and etc.

Licorice is one of the most widely used herbs and has an important place in both Western and Eastern herbal medicine. It has hormonal, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antibacterial and antiviral effects. It has been shown to stimulate the immune system, and to help with inflammatory and allergic conditions, colds, viral infections, hepatitis, premenstrual syndrome, Addison’s disease, peptic ulcers and skin conditions.

Ginkgo biloba is an herb particularly beneficial for brain, nerves and blood vessels. It has a lot of valuable effects such as stabilising cell membranes, reducing free radical damage, improving blood circulation and enhancing oxygen and glucose use. It is useful for oxygen deprivation, hardening of the arteries, depression, allergies and senile conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Ginger is highly valued as a spice especially with its warming properties. It acts as an antioxidant and has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-clotting, anti-ulcer and pain-killing properties. Ginger helps to increase acid secretion in the stomach, improve liver function, lower cholesterol, relieve spasm in the gut, as well as having beneficial effects on the heart. It is used to help with nausea and vomiting, to improve digestion and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body and is involved in many metabolic processes. It is important in acting like a "sugar" in the brain, providing nourishment for mental function, and is needed for muscle growth and maintenance. L-glutamine aids digestive tract and decreases muscle wasting. L-glutamine may be beneficial to those with inadequate protein dietary intake, people who experience muscle wasting due to disease or lengthy bed rest, trauma patients or patients on high-dose chemotherapy.

Piperine is a component of black pepper and has been known for improving nutrient absorption. A study was done by Vladimir B., Muhammed M. and Piscataway N.J. to investigate whether piperine could enhance absorption of beta-carotene, a fat-soluble nutrient. The results showed 5mg/day dose of piperine taken with 15mg beta-carotene resulted in a 60% increase in serum beta-carotene levels compared with placebo. Similar increases in absorption have been found for many other nutrients.

With all these finely blended ingredients, Dande Café creates a full bodied flavour and superb nutritious drink to be enjoyed for any occasion and any time!
